The Recruits: David

INTRO: Alright, so I thought this was a good first post. This ALL came from one little sentence, it's somewhere in there, towards the beginning. I won't tell you where, but the woman is the one who says it.
Now, this is a supposed story, in a poem like format. The layout is ruined once on here, but it's not that big of a deal I guess. Each character is supposed to have one line, two, three, four, and then starts again. I have executed this in such a way that it CAN stand on it's own if I never get to finish it. In which case it will be a poem.
Should it ever become a short story, then it will be called The Recruits, and this chapter will be called David. Should it be only a poem then I will be known as The Recruit.
I know that is confusing, but all of these things are nothing but ideas, so that is why some of them...more like most of them, do not have names set in stone.
In any case, I hope you enjoy this. If not, I hope you'll give your opinion anyway.

THE RECRUITS: DAVID

“Quickly, take my hand! I do not have much time. Come, we must run!”

“Please Sir, you cannot leave me behind. I cannot move so promptly now.”

“Come then, we must go now! Time runs short and the enemy swiftly approaches.
Make haste, I will protect you if only you will follow.”

“You do not realize, but it is you that needs protecting.
I am that one. Though we must work together. You do not have a choice.”

“Please woman, I do not have time for these games.
If I must leave you behind so be it. Our lives are at stake.
You quarrel on protection that I am offering. Come now, or I shall leave you!”

“And who are you mortal man, that I should submit to your words?
That I should trust you with all my soul.
A precious gift that belongs not to all. You must prove yourself.”

“Prove myself? If I am not doing such please, enlighten me.
Here am I, attempting to save with me another. Not thinking of myself alone.
Then you go about to tell me that I must prove myself. I do not understand.
Please, bring to my eyes the light needed to see such darkness. Who are you?”

“It is not important who I am, but what I was sent to represent.
I have come on behalf of the Most High. He has sent me to continue his work.
I am not the only one. There are many of my kind here, scattered to the ends of the earth.
Though, you would not recognize them. You are not meant to.”

“Why then am I known to you, If I am not meant to recognize such things?”

“The reason I have revealed myself to you is this, you are my mission.”

“This is absurd. Do what you will, but I must take leave. There is not much time left.
Make it known to your master that I made an effort to save you with myself.”

“You do not understand. It is my duty to make myself known to you.
I am the one that cannot leave you. Though you must listen, and you must help me.”

“Help you? Is that not what I have been trying so desperately to accomplish!
You waste our time with talk of imaginary things. Safety could have been found thus far.
Please woman, come now or I will have not choice but to leave you. I did try to save you.”

“You have done no such thing. In your panic, you refuse to listen. You care not of me.
You have a good heart, it holds kindness, but you worry to much for yourself.
With me, nothing will cause you harm. I was sent to prevent such. We must work together.”

“If you hold within yourself such an ability, then why stand here in the midst of war?
Take to the sky then angel, if that is truly what you are. You have wasted my time.
Why choose to linger in such a place as this if you have the power to save yourself?
If I am your mission, why not force me to travel with you?”

“It is not so simple. I cannot do this alone. I am given only so much to use here.
I have only so much to begin with. I have no wings to fly here on earth. They would do no good.
I do not choose to linger here, I have no choice. Though, I cannot force you, it must be your Decision.
Do you want to be saved mortal man? If I die here, so do you. If you choose to perish, so do I.“

“I do not wish for death, nor do I wish it upon you. What is it that I am needed to do. We must hurry.”

“The first thing needed is trust. You must relinquish all worry. Do you trust me David?”

“You are known of my name? It is not an impossible feat, but with such, you have my allegiance.
What next angel? How am I to aid your mission, or should I say ours. What am I to call you by?”

“Of course I am known to the name of my mission, and I am grateful for your allegiance at last.
It is also good to know that you consider this our mission. You may call me Atheriele.”

“Heavenly Atheriele, who am I to be chosen for such a mission? I have not been faithful to much.
It would seem that I am the most unworthy for such a task as this. I am certain there is a better man.
I do not understand why I am chosen, though I do not know why the sun rises. I except my fate.”

“Wise David, you were chosen for your good heart and willingness to serve. You are the one intended.
You must put aside earthly fears now, for you are bound to the Fearless One as am I.
We shall join the others soon, to create a vast alliance across the nations. Many have fallen in fear.”

“I shall not be afraid then. I do not want to join the fallen, I will be stronger then such as these.
I would rather fight to the death, then fight fate by doing nothing. Do what you will with me.
It is time that my life be meant for something. I have spent too much time resisting contentment.
I have a duty to the next generation, should this war not be the end of everything. I will fight for them.”

“Brave David, do not trust in your own strength alone, for that will surely be our demise. We have none.
Trust that such will be given to you, for it shall. You will not go into battle unarmed. Fear not.
The battlefront closes in upon us. It is time to reposition our standings. We must call for the others.
Close your eyes, and free your mind, only then can I call upon them with you. Hear their cry? It is time.”

If you were the only writer I ever read, I would be content.
